What a day!! THANK YOU!!!
I am happy to say that the 7th Annual Stacy Egan Memorial Golf Tournament was a total success! We had fabulous weather, and with fabulous friends... it was truly the perfect day! We all had a blast and raised an awesome amount of money for the Ganhz family! Thank you to EVERYONE who helped by donating things for the silent auction, golfing or attending the dinner and supporting the silent auction! We couldn't have pulled it off without you! A special thanks to Jimmy Biermaier, our MC who makes the event so fun, Mary Shepherd for rounding up more silent auction items and door prizes and making her AMAZING cookies that raised more money for the event, the Green Mill of Hastings for an awesome meal, our Grandma for making a gorgeous quilt that was raffled off, Kristie Williams for making the jello shots, the Molitors for donating the alcohol for the shots (which raised more money!!), all the game night girls (Aimee, Heather, Kristie, Debbie & Ondrea) for helping with the check-out at the silent auction- you made our lives so much easier, you have NO idea!!! and a special thanks to Karen and Paul at the Lake Pepin Golf Course for all your help... the course is GORGEOUS and we love you guys! If I have forgotten anyone, I apologize! But we are truly to grateful to EVERYONE for their continued support of Stacy's tournament! We couldn't do it without YOU! We still miss Stacy so terribly but look forward to the golf tournament as a day to remember her and celebrate her life! Thank you thank you thank you!! Invitations...
Just an update that we will be starting to send out invitations in "rounds"! The first batch went out yesterday and we will be sending the rest out over the next week or so.
We have stated this over and over but if you are planning to golf... we have limited space and we have invited an extra 200 people this year... so we will fill up quick. We sign people up on a first come first served basis. So again, if you are planning to golf, send in your registration as soon as you get the invitation! We have UNlimited seating for dinner, so when golf fills up we hope that we will still see those people at dinner. We are going to start dinner a little early this year and have some festivities before-hand for those that aren't golfing. It is always such a fun day and we are so excited to see everyone again this year! Just start praying for good weather now :)
As for silent auction items... we still can use anything that you all are willing to donate! You can email us at stacyegantournament@gmail.com or drop off your items to Wise Family Funeral Home, 400 Spring St. in Hastings!
Thanks again for all the support!

Update...
Over the last 6 years The Stacy Egan Memorial Golf Tournament has raised more than $70,000 for sarcoma research at Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston. We thank all the participants for their love and continued support over those 6 years. Last year alone, we were able to raise $12,000 for a family that had lost their wife and mother to cancer. Cancer research remains a critical issue, and we look forward to the day when the need no longer exists. Unfortunately, that day is not yet in sight and many continue to be touched by the relentlessness of cancer. Again, this year, we are presented with the opportunity to make our golf tournament even more personal.
3 years ago Kristine Gahnz was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer. The cancer stayed away for 3 years but retuned this past spring, this time in her liver. Kristine has had 2/3 of her liver removed and is currently undergoing chemotherapy. Her 3 children (Tate, Lexi and Noelle) are as central to her fight for life as Connor and Cullen were to Stacy’s. Kristine’s courage, selflessness, strength and determination will remainas ever present as Stacy’s does today. So the proceeds of this year’s tournament will be going to the Gahnz family. We know, without hesitation, Stacy would be so honored to have money raised, in her memory, to a very deserving family. Looking forwardto seeing everyone, old and new, this year!!

Anniversary...
As you know, today is May 1st. It is the 6th anniversary of Stacy's death. It's always a hard day... we miss her terribly. Our family always gets together today to remember her.
If you haven't seen it... the Hastings Star Gazette did a story on tournament and announced who we are donating the proceeds to. So run out to get a copy. Unfortunately I can't put a link to it on the blog.
This year we are donating the money to Kristine Gahnz who is a Hastings resident and a friend of the family. We will post another blog soon about Kristine and her family... stay tuned :)
We have sent some of the save the dates out... the rest will be arriving to you early next week. If you haven't received one by Wednesday May 6... contact us and we will add you to our list. stacyegantournament@gmail.com

Every year we let off balloons to go up to Stacy in heaven... we do this at the golf tournament as well...

And there they go....

Welcome!
We thought it would be a good idea to start a blog so you can come here to find out more about the tournament!
As many of you know, Stacy passed away on May 1, 2003 after a 14 month battle with Leiomyo Sarcoma cancer. It was Stacy's unbelievable example of how to live life, ferociously fight for life, and to end life, that has gotten us through the days, weeks, months and years since her death. We miss her EVERY day! She left us the greatest gifts to remember her by, her 2 boys, Connor (14) and Cullen (almost 11). We know she is proud of the boys that they are and the men they will soon become.
Our first tournament was only 4 months after she passed away. Her husband, Mike planned the day at a golf course owned by a family friend in Lake City.... we had a great turnout without having much time to plan! Needless to say the tournament has grown so much! Stacy may not physically be with us at the tournament but she is definitely there in spirit. We love to spend the day remembering Stacy and telling those who didn't get to know Stacy, all about her. We truly look forward to it every year!
For the first 5 years we donated the proceeds from the tournament to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston. They specialize in Leiomyo sarcoma. While, we know there is a long way to go in finding a cure for this type of cancer we realized that our donation could be more impactful elsewhere. And that Stacy would want to help other young mothers in fighting this battle. Mike worked with a woman who was diagnosed with breast cancer around the same time Stacy was diagnosed with her cancer. Her family relied heavily on her income and when she wasn't able to continue working, we decided this was our new calling. The money we raised would dramatically impact this family. So we donated the proceeds ($12,000!!!!) of the tournament last year to them!
